Governor Whitmer announces four economic development projects bringing 167 new jobs and nearly $55 million in capital investment

Four economic development projects are bringing 167 new jobs and nearly $55 million in capital investment to Wayne and Oakland Counties in Michigan. Among the companies expanding is NxLite, which is establishing its U.S. headquarters and manufacturing facility in Canton Township, Wayne County.

NxLite, a leading clean-tech company providing nano-thin energy and solar control coatings for the polymer, glass, and window industries, is expecting to create 39 new jobs with a capital investment of $8,858,746 for the project. The company was awarded a Michigan Business Development Program (MBDP) performance-based grant from the Michigan Strategic Fund.

This manufacturing facility allows us to apply our advanced energy coatings to both glass and polymeric substrates using the latest nano technology.

Newly created jobs at NxLite’s facility will have starting wages at or above $24 per hour, all of which will be above the regional median wage. The company’s Advanced Innovation and Manufacturing (AIM) Center will house state-of-the-art nano-coating production lines and a materials science R&D center.

The announcement was part of a broader economic development initiative supported by Governor Whitmer and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, highlighting the state’s continued growth as a hub for advanced manufacturing and clean technology.
