CANTON, Mich. — Cleantech innovator NxLite™ today announced the opening of its $9-million Advanced Innovation & Manufacturing (AIM) Center in Canton, Michigan. The 45,000-square-foot facility will serve as the company’s U.S. headquarters while housing state-of-the-art nano-coating production lines and a materials science R&D center of excellence.
This strategic investment enables NxLite to produce its revolutionary energy-efficient, low-E coatings at commercial scale for windows, doors, and other transparent glazing applications, while accelerating development of the technology’s applications through collaboration with industry partners.
“This manufacturing facility allows us to apply our advanced energy coatings to both glass and polymeric substrates using the latest nano technology. The AIM Center represents the next chapter of our growth as we scale to meet global demand.”
— David Mather, CEO and Chairman of NxLite
NxLite’s proprietary permanent, low-emissivity coatings—applicable to both glass and polymeric substrates—uniquely reduce energy consumption while cutting weight compared to conventional alternatives. The AIM Center’s production lines are designed to coat a range of materials, including ultra-thin glass, polycarbonate, and acrylic sheets.
The AIM Center is expected to create 39 new jobs, with starting wages at or above $24 per hour—all above the regional median wage. NxLite was awarded a $1.5 million Michigan Business Development Program (MBDP) performance-based grant from the Michigan Strategic Fund in support of the AIM Center.
The facility opening comes as NxLite continues to see growing interest from manufacturers across multiple industries, including residential and commercial windows, commercial refrigeration, automotive glazing, and architectural retrofit applications.
